Residential Heating & Cooling Maintenance

Mechanical Heating and Cooling has a maintenance team that is dedicated to your continued home comfort. We believe that prevention is the best way to ensure your system is running efficiently and to keep your home happy and healthy all year round. All of the working parts that exist within your system in combination with contaminants in the air will cause your equipment to deteriorate over time, costing you far more than it needs to when it comes to your energy bills and potential repairs.

An ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure

During a maintenance visit we will inspect, monitor, clean, and test all of the components and safeties of your system to ensure that it is functioning at its prime. It also includes the inspection of accessories, such as air filters and belts, humidifier, and even your thermostat.

Having maintenance performed on your HVAC equipment regularly ensures that your equipment is running properly, efficiently, and using less energy. The benefit of having regular maintenance is keeping your system operating as it is supposed to all season long. See below for our detailed inspection list as well as our regular maintenance plans.

The Importance of Hot Water Tank Maintenance

Did you know that as water is heated it will separate from any minerals in the water and over time these minerals can build up and create a layer of sediment in the bottom of your hot water tank.

Overtime as this sediment builds up can cause a variety of problems including:

  • Decreased heating efficiency: Sediment acts as a barrier between the heating element and the water, making it harder for your tank to heat the water to temperature.
  • Decreased hot water flow
  • Damage to the tank: Excessive sediment can cause overheating, leading to damage or even tank failure. Buildup can also cause cracks in the tank, which lead to water leaks.
  • Cloudy water
  • Popping or hissing noises: This can be a sign that sediment buildup is interfering with the heating process.

The solution to this sediment build up is regular maintenance. By flushing and filling a water heater the sediment is flushed out of the equipment keeping it running at peak efficiency and expanding the working life of the equipment. It is recommended to have this done at least once per year. This service is included in our Platinum ESA Plan.
